Overview
E.ON collaborated with Gorillaz to help shift brand perception and promote E.ON’s solar and battery storage technology.
The partnership developed over two campaigns and allowed brand and band to experiment with the possibilities of solar power and renewable energy. The first phase of the campaign used E.ON’s solar battery storage to power a TV ad featuring Gorillaz characters and a sync for their new single ‘We Got The Power’.
The partners then entered phase two of the campaign with the challenge of harnessing solar energy to create music.
'Kong Solar Studio' was created, a Gorillaz recording studio powered entirely by E.ON's solar battery panels. The mobile studio served as a fan experience during the day, located at Gorillaz Demon Dayz festival and the band’s arena tour shows in Germany and Hungary. Overnight the studio hosted aspiring musicians, who were challenged to create one song in just 24 hours, using one charge of E.ON's renewable energy.
